How to Use Feng Shui to Answer Particular Questions
Stephen Skinner, with Lillian Too and Martine Wood
Many people interested in Feng Shui often wonder which type is best to study. According to Feng Shui Master Stephen Skinner, perhaps the most highly respected western master of Feng Shui, all types should be studied, because different types are best used in different situations.
In his book, The KISS Guide to Feng Shui, Stephen points out the following types of Feng Shui which can be used to answer these questions:
1) To find the best building site, which will accumulate ch’i efficiently; choosing and laying out a building site, use FORM SCHOOL, and hire someone who is “classically” trained.
2) To find out what kind of ch’i your building is accumulating, use the COMPASS SCHOOL.
3) To see if a house is good for you personally, use the EAST LIFE/WEST LIFE FORMULA.
4) To work out the best interior layout, use both the EAST LIFE/WEST LIFE FORMULA and EIGHT MANSION SYSTEM.
5) To attend to your wealth, use WATER DRAGON FORMULAS.
6) If a house is being built for a particular person, hire a practicioner who can calculate the FOUR PILLARS and relate them to the house layout.
7) If the work involves indoor work with little opportunity for real structural change, then hire a practicioner who is familiar with the ELEMENTS, the rules of the EIGHT MANSION SYSTEM, and INTERIOR ALIGNMENT.
To determine which rooms should be used for which function, hire an EIGHT MANSION SCHOOL Master.
9) For detailed work involving structural changes over a period of time, a FLYING STAR specialist would be best.
So, what is Feng Shui best for? According to Skinner, it is best at “freeing up energy, increasing your luck by making many more opporunities arrive, and/or making you more able to grasp them.”
Skinner says that practicioners from different schools have their own areas of expertise, but they all rely on precise calculations.
