Psychics on Wall Street

Filmed in November, 2008, this three-minute video presents short interviews with some interesting forecasters.

Henry Weingarten, Managing Director of The Astrology Fund,  says that both stock markets and stocks themselves each have individual horoscopes.  “So when you want to make a particular prediction about a country, a stock market, or a stock, you look at their horoscope.   For many companies, it’s one of the most important factors.”

Gia, a Wall Street psychic reader who uses Tarot cards, says people are coming in to see how long this bear market is going to last, and asking when it is going to be over.

Farusha is a psychic reader in the East Village of New York, who also uses Tarot cards.

Finance Professor Roy Smith, of New York University, says he is not very familiar with using astrology or other non-quantitative finance menthods for predicting the stock market.  But he understands that many people do.

Do readers know personally of anyone having success with these methods?

  1. Bill Horvath Says:

As far as what I know from what I have read in mostly biographies about famous psychics is that they had really bad experience in the money area when trying to use their abilities to forecast the market.

I remember when Edger Casey tried answering questions about investment predictions I think he lost his abilities or had disastrous results. Toward the end of his life he just gave up on money and the family lived off donations from readings he gave. He never charged.

Dannonion Brinkley, author of Saved by the Light. And I think Sylvia Brown had issues with this early on with her first husbands investment in a silver mine which went sour.

But in general I think this is an area where spiritual ritual and earthly commerce just don’t mix. Like art and commerce, once the ego gets into the mix your done. Unless the practitioner is banking on learn some hard lessons about value or something, I would stay away from profiting from this kind of practice unless it just comes to you naturally.

The market already has its share of too many self proclaimed Sorcerer’s over the last 20 years and “money magicians” creating all kinds of phony investments only to have them magically disappear over night.
