How Well Tarot Works at Predicting Future Outcomes

Sometimes I’ve found Tarot readings right on, other times not.  This election has provided me with a good test opportunity.  Earlier readings predicted McCain, while recent readings predicted Obama.  My conclusion is that Tarot works better for clarifying PRESENT situations than it does for predicting FUTURE situations.

What do others think?

    I would tend to agree.

I would say tarot “lay readings” are more like a “diagnostic tool” to see things from a larger perspective. However I think in the hands of someone who is gifted “psychically” or just very intuitive they become like all Oracle’s such as runes, pendulums, ect. They becomes door-ways for our six sense to pear through.

I have seen professional psychic use cards like the tarot and not pay any attention to their formal meanings. In fact some just use regular playing cards or those cards with simple symbols on them that don’t mean anything. They use them to help them focus their energy, that’s all.

I think the on and off readings that come up here are from the fact that if you’re not highly gifted I believe that the intuition turns on and off in cards and is very erratic. The best analogy is with someone who is talented as with artistic ability. We all can draw but as we know some people are born with a greater ability to draw then others. When they train and practice they become skilled at it and are called “artists.”

Well when we use the tarot and we are not psychically trained I think we draw sloppy pictures from the meanings we get from the cards in a sense. Where someone who is trained or just gifted at it has more accuracy.

As for the future. I believe in the statement of a very wise Jedi Master who said, “Always in motion is the future.” In that sense I think for some, based on their beliefs, that some things are meant to happen and are written into our scripts before we come into life. Challenges, events, people we are destine to meet ect. But other things we might want to leave open and allow our experience here to play a part in how we make decisions.

So its very tricky. I also believe there are just events we are not meant to see. That the universe does have its own rhyme and rhythm and does want it to be interfered with.

I perfer to use the cards for diagnostic tool right now. But I always find myself looking into what it says about the future. That really is the reason why people use the cards or go to psychic’s anyway. We want to get a heads up as to what coming. But sometimes its just not in our best interest to.

I still feel uneasy about the Obama Presidency. I like him and think he represents the countries inner desire for hope and positive change. However, so did Martin Juther King and Robert Kennedy. And that kind of change is very scary to some people and we know what happened in the past. In that sense it could be another 1968 next year and Obama might feel the inner need to work quickly because he might have an inner knowing that he doesn’t have a lot of time.

Its my hope that we have evolved and don”t need Martyrs or “sacrifices” anymore to bring us to a higher level of understanding again.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Bill. The reason I started with Tarot is that I read a book by psychic John Edwards, where he said that he started with Tarot as a teenager. I thought if it was good enough for him, then I could probably learn something valuable with it. Unfortunately for me, I don’t seem to be psychic, so maybe that’s why it doens’t work as well for me as for him.

    Best regards,

Don’t get me wrong Margot. I have meet several people who are not highly gifted like John Edwards yet they are good at connecting the dots so to speak. And once in awhile our own intuitive sense will kick in with some surprising results. Remember we are all intuitive in different ways. Just as we are all creative through different expressions. The John Edwards of the world are like the Da Vinci’s or Beethoven’s, or Michael Jordan’s of psychic ablilties that’s all.
They are just very consistent and more accurate then most.

I do understand where you are coming from. I fell in love with the tarot at a very young age as well. But found finding meaning in the images very hard and even memorizing the formal meanings impossible. I couldn’t even memorize the times table at that age. Being dyslexic I stumbled through all my studies. Then I discovered the one thing I could do was draw. And if it wasn’t for that I would have dropped out of school.

The pictures on the cards and their meanings continued to fascinate me over the years and I learned to process things visually. Today as an art director and writer producer I use visual story telling as a way to communicate my ideas. Mainly through story boards. So I now see the cards the same way. I try to find a connection and story in the sequence of cards.

I have on several occasions taped into psychic predictions but mostly by accident. Mostly in bars if you can believe that. And very drunk believe or not. Once I took the place of a reader in a bar in Hollywood while she went out for a smoke. I guy came over and ask me to do a spread using her cards, so i did. They where not the Wite Rider deck so I really didn’t understand them. However at one point I pointed to the star card and said to him that someone he knows has passed on and is now with him in spirit. I said it was a women and she is trying to guide him. I have know idea why I said that.

His jaw dropped and he became very emotional. After he pulled himself together he told me he had come to town to burry his aunt. She was very close to him. We both had another drink. Perhaps she found me, in that state, as an easy vehicle to get her message through.

So Margot don’t look at it as something you can’t do. It’s just very tricky for those not gifted with this talent to use them in the same way. Or more accurately use them the same way a real psychic can. Like I said maybe for us its more a diagnostic tool.

Best of luck using them your own way.

    Bill

The tarot can also easily pick up what is happening in the collective unconsciousness. Earlier in the process McCain probably had impetus that your cards correctly picked up. However as soon as wall street crumbled, the collective unconsciousness changed and with it your readings. I always find using the tarot in conjunction with the appropriate astrological chart clarifies things for me considerably.
